Today is the AIFactory weekly challenge #25, and the DT was to use these awesome printable Recipe cards designed by Mia. I was given the opportunity to also create something with them.
I chose to make a Bind-it-all book of these cards and I will write in my favorite recipes that people have given me over the years, so that I can have my favorites on hand all in one place, instead of having to sift through loose papers and various different cook books given to me. It stands up while on the counter, keeping my workspace free, and I can easily read it and flip a page over.
It's funny that just a few short weeks ago I emptied my watercolor paper pad and ALMOST threw out the bottom cardboard it came on. But I just couldn't actually bring myself to toss that perfectly good "chipboard", as I never knew when I would need it for something. LOL, so here I was needing a custom size chipboard and I had this nice thick cardboard from my paper pad ready and waiting for me!
I printed the cards, which you can find HERE, at full scale and the cards are about 4 x 5-5/8 if trimmed at the crop marks. I trimmed them at the left, right and bottom crop marks, but then trimmed the top about 1/4" above the crop mark taking into account that I was to punch the binding holes, so the final measurement of my cards ended up being 4-3/8 x 5-5/8.
I made my front and back covers at 4-1/2 x 5-7/8, and then covered them with DP.
Punched the holes with Bind-it-all, and put them together with the binding ring.
I decorated the front cover using the orange image at the end of the printable document. There are other cute images that you can die cut out, hand cut out and use them to decorate your recipe project. Very cute!
