COLORING STEPS:
These are the markers I used.
I added the lightest blue color as below. This is the step where you choose where your water line is going to be.
Next add a little of the darker blue... a if they are the waves in the water around the shell. You want it to look like he is halfway under water, so just add color right over the image.
Blend those two colors together loosley. Allow to dry completely.
Color the duck and the head/neck. I added a spot of pink for the cheek.
You must blend the green out first and work your way toward the pink spot from all directions. Then blend the pink last. Add some more pink before the paper dries and blend again, if you blended it too light the first time.
Add color to the shell parts. I added the lime color to the perimeters of each section and then blended starting from the center of each section and moving toward the color. The areas in between the sections don't need blending since it is so small.
Notice how I kept the coloring of the shell above the "water line" I created in the first step.
Add color and blend the sky out.
Start adding color to the underside of shell and legs.
Since these parts are under water, I added some darker color to the legs before blending all together.
Add color to lower sides of shell, and since this part of the shell is under water, I used darker muted colors. Blend using waterbrush andd then allow to completely dry.
Using 1 or 2 of the blue colors, add strokes over where the water is around the shell.... try to make "waves" or "wakes" like you might see as the turtle swims.
LIghtly and quickly, with low water flow, blend with the waterbrush quickly around the water parts... be sure not to touch any areas "above" the water. Allow to completely dry.
Once the panels were put together for the card, I added white gel pen to add shine the shell and dot his cheeks.
Last step to do AFTER sewing the panel together, is to add the clear lacquer over the water.
I basically used the tip of the clear lacquer spout to spread the clear lacquer in the same direction as I used to draw "waves". This just helps make it look more realistic.
Allow to completely dry before assembling your main panel onto the card.

Fabulous cards! The turtle coloring is great! What kind of clear lacquer did you use?

Your cards are just beautiful! I love the water look. One question, is the clear Lacquer, do you use Diamond Glaze or Clear Accents, or is Lacquer different? I have never used Lacquer and just wondering. Thanks so much for sharing!
