Here is a QUICK photo tutorial on how I colored the image on my card using Tombow markers and a waterbrush (kind with a reservoir).
This project was one of three submissions to a TOP SECRET art project in which I was invited to make submissions to. I am not allowed to say any more about the project at this time. This card below was NOT selected, so I am free to display it. I was kind of sad, because out of the 3 items I made, this one was my favorite.
The image is a freebie called Turtle Express from SQUIGGLEFLY.COM and UPDATED: the artist of the image is Ashley Summers!

HERE ARE THE STEP PHOTOS
Very important Tip: After using the waterbrush to blend each color, wipe it off several times on a paper towel or scrap paper to get all the color out of the tip, before blending the next color.
1. Apply 133 color as shown
2. Apply 126 color in creases and under areas that would be darker
3. Start with smallest section and use the waterbrush to blend from color inward
4. and 5. Next section blending
6. Bottom of next section, work your way up blending... keep middle areas lighter
7. Work your way upward
8. Continue upward
9. And finish blending at top
10. Add more color 126 to undersides and creases while paper is still damp
11. Again, add more color 126 to undersides and creases while paper is still damp
12. Lightly touch tip of waterbrush to added 126 color to blend back into sections
13. Touch tip of 703 color to cheek while the face is still damp, color will begin to flow outward
14. and 15. Lightly touch tip of waterbrush to cheek color edges to allow more flow outward. Do not try to blend or add too much water or your cheek color will blend too much into the green and create a muddy looking color.
16. Add 126 color to toes, and 098 color to bottom of toes
17. Lightly touch toes with waterbrush tip and see colors blend
18. Add 985 color as shown to turtle shell patches and belly
19. Add 933 color around edges of turtle shell patches and belly as shown
20. Blend using waterbrush tip, start in the center of each shell patch and work to edges until all patches are blended. Lightly swipe waterbrush tip to belly sections to blend
21. Finish blending turtle shell patches
22. All patches and belly blended
23. Using 133 and 098 colors, apply to shell inbetween the patches
24. Blend areas by touching very lightly along each line
25. Turtle coloring complete
26. Add 703 and 755 colors as shown on snail body. TIP: You need VERY LITTLE of the 755 color! it is a very strong color
27. Blend with waterbrush tip, starting from inner lighter areas and working outward. Touch tip lightly to paper to blend
28. Add the 676 color to the snail shell as shown. This is a very rich color and little is needed
29. Begin blending with waterbrush by starting near the bottom, touching the color lining the bottom of the shell, and pulling the color upward as you move the brush back and forth and upward. WAIT for shell to dry completely before doing step 30
30. Using white gel pen, add dots to snail shell
31. By now your turtle shell should be completely dry. Using the writing tip of the 947 marker, draw cross hatches in each shell patch, and then using the white gel pen, add cross hatches inbetween each of the brown corss hatches. Change angles of hatches for each patch to give a varied look.
32. Using the brush tip of the 098 marker, draw in some grass under the turtle feet as shown
33. Starting at one side, apply the waterbrush tip to the base of the turtle feet and grass and wipe in a single motion following the lines of the feet, from one side to the other, and then move the brush back again slightly lower than the feet to blend some of the green downward.
34. Finsihed blending of grass
35. using the 992 marker, outline around the upper portion of the image
36. Starting at one end of the image, sweep the waterbrush back and forth over the 992 color, around the edges of the image, being careful not to touch the waterbrush tip overtop the already colored areas. Continue until the edges of the upper image have been shadowed all around
37. Using the 098 marker writing tip, add a few light strokes of "grass" around and under feet

Whew! A quickie mini photo tutorial on how to color with Tombow markers this adorable turtle image. I hope it was at least a little helpful in seeing how I get from black and white to finished image!
I sure do thank you for stopping in today, and I will have another tutorial like this one within a week on the OTHER project that didn't get accepted to the top secret project.
Hope you have a wonderful day!
